How many pieces vape pens i can bring to airplane in Hongkong?

Hong Kong has some of the strictest regulations on e-cigarette products in Asia. Since April 30, 2022, the Smoking (Public Health) (Amendment) Ordinance 2021 has officially prohibited the import, promotion, manufacture, and sale of alternative smoking products, including disposable e-cigarettes.

Under this law, anyone who brings such products in, whether for personal or commercial use, could face serious legal consequences. It is important to note that this law applies not only to local residents but also to passengers arriving at Hong Kong International Airport.

Furthermore, the Import and Export (Amendment) Bill, promulgated in December 2023, specifically targets forms of entry such as cargo, consignments, and checked baggage. Those who violate the ordinance face a maximum fine of HK$500,000 and imprisonment of up to two years.

E-cigarettes in the Transit Zone

Despite strict regulations, there is still some leeway. If you are only traveling through Hong Kong International Airport and do not need to go through immigration procedures, you can bring disposable e-cigarettes.

However, the following exceptions come with some restrictions:

Disposable vapes should not be used in transit.

You can't charge and activate the device inside the airport.

The object must be stored in a safe place to prevent accidental start-up.

Basically, the device can be carried on board, but it must not come out of your bag, and it cannot be used within Hong Kong's jurisdiction—even within the airport transit areas.

The number of permitted e-cigarettes on board may change from time to time; it is recommended that you call the airline in advance to inquire about the approved number.
